And finally, one more picture of the closet in the boys room. I think this room was the cleanest at the end of the day, maybe thats why I took so many pictures in there. :) Check back tomorrow - we're doing quite a bit more in our bedroom and the master bathroom, so there should be a few pictures to look at. Posted by Hello

Here is a view looking into the living room. You can (barely) make out the piano by the front window and the really nice ceiling fan. You can also make out part of the doorway, which was refinished prior to us moving in. Im not so sure about his choice of wallpaper, but Im sure we'll deal with that when the time comes. Posted by Hello

Here is a rather blurry shot looking towards Sheilas office, otherwise known as "The Ebay Room", from the base of the stairs. You can see some minor water damage on the ceiling, but we're planning on pulling the tiles down and sheetrocking it all eventually. One thing I really like is the tallness of the doorways...they make the rooms seem a lot bigger. Posted by Hello

Here is another shot from the landing, looking towards the base of the stairs. A lot of old lumber and other stuff ended up being pushed there for the time being. Posted by Hello

This is a shot from the landing on the stairway looking into the living room. The door on the left was originally hung in the doorway, but we are planning on leaving it down to make the rooms seem bigger. Posted by Hello

This is another shot of the boys' room, showing the windows on the north side of the house and the closet door on the left. Posted by Hello

Just another shot of her shelves and the window facing to the north.  Posted by Hello

This is another picture of Miki's room, facing the north wall. You can see the other set of shelves in the room as well as her closet door on the right. Again, these shelves will most likely stay in there - from what I hear, she has a lot of knick knacks.... :) Posted by Hello

This is looking out of Miki's bedroom door down the hallway. You can see the old fashioned window at the top of the door, which was originally intended to increase airflow, I think. All but one of these windows have glass in them - I think they add a lot of character to the place. At the far end of the hall is our room, but it is still full of garbage, so you'll have to wait til we dig it out before I add pictures. Posted by Hello

This is the south side of Mikis room showing the paneling that is already in there. As you can see, the roof has been torn out and insulation has been installed. All thats left to do is throw some sheetrock up there and paint it with clouds and angels for her! ;) Posted by Hello

This is the corner Miki's room. The window on the left faces the front of the house and the window on the right faces the north side of the house. The shelves in the corner are attached to the wall and we may just leave them in there for her to put stuff on. The shelves on the left are free-standing and will hopefully end up in my basement! :) Posted by Hello

This is looking into the corner of the girls room from Summer's part of the room. There are some decent stains in the corner from previous water damage, however the ceiling doesn't seem to leak anymore, so a quick tear down and replacement of the existing boards should solve the problem. Posted by Hello

This is Saydie's little section of the room - the entire room is L shaped so we are going to split it out into two rooms, essentially making the house a five bedroom home.  Posted by Hello

Another view of the girls' room - the big board in the window is covering the fact that there is NO window behind it. This will be Summer's little 'nook' with windows on three sides of her room. Just perfect for such a shining personality! Posted by Hello

A view of the girls' room - a lot of work needs to be done in here. The picture turned out a little dark due to the flash and the old 40 watt light bulbs still in use in the house.... Posted by Hello

A view of the boys' room from outside their door. Pretty nice that they will have two windows in their room that actually let sunlight in! Posted by Hello

The main entry way, with all the paneling stripped and ready for some new sheetrock to be slapped in place. Posted by Hello

Oct 9 2004: Part of what will become the boys room - the section in the middle of the picture is an old chimney wall. Luckily, the previous owner insulated the room for us! :) Posted by Hello

Oct 9, 2004 - just a small portion of the garbage we took out of the house today.... Posted by Hello

Day One

It's the end of day one, and here's what we got accomplished:

  • Fixed three sets of stairs (basement, attic and back porch)
  • Got the electricity turned on
  • Got the gas turned on
  • Cleaned two of the rooms
  • Installed a deadbolt on the front door

Very tiring work - too bad we can't afford to have someone else do it for us! ;)

It's official

Well, we officially own the house now. I guess I'll be spending this weekend going through all the stuff in the house and getting ready for our handyman to show up and work his magic. :)
