Sony to replace XCP-protected CDs

Sony just keeps going from bad to worse. First, they tried to copy-protect their CD's by installing what amounts to a virus on any Windows based PC that played the CD. Then, when that news became public and concerns were raised about the possibility of hackers exploiting this "rootkit", Sony issued a patch.

Now it seems that hackers the world over have jumped all over this and created viruses that can and will infect a computer that has/had the Sony software installed on it. But here's the kicker - the viruses only work on systems that Sony has "patched".

So first they install a virus on your PC, then they offer you a tool to remove their virus, but once you do so you open yourself up to even MORE viruses.

My Christmas list this year? Anything not made by Sony. Congratulations, you idiots. You have shot yourself in the foot BIG time.
